Letter from Mrs. Martin CF 84
To Mrs Guerin
3 January 1873.
My little girl was born yesterday, Thursday, at 11:XNUMX in the evening. She's very strong and healthy, they tell me she weighs eight pounds, let's put that at six, that's not bad; she seems very nice
I am very happy. However, at the first moment, I was surprised, because I expected to have a boy! I had imagined that for two months, because I felt her much stronger than my other children.
I barely suffered for half an hour, what I felt before is not to be counted. She will be baptized tomorrow Saturday, all that will be missing is all of you to make the party complete It is Marie who will be godmother with, as godfather, a little boy about her age (Paul-Albert Boul, 9 years old; son of a friend of Louis).
I have received your letter, as well as the box containing the gifts; I don't know if I should scold you, I have a great desire to do so and yet also to thank you, but everything is too beautiful and too expensive. Céline showed off her beautiful fur and muff on New Year's Day.
I wish you all a happy new year. Do not forget me, please, near Mr. and Mrs. Fournet, Mr. and Mrs. Maudelonde (respectively parents, brother-in-law and sister of Mrs. Guérin).
See you soon for a longer letter, I cannot write more today.
Marie and Pauline have been on vacation since Tuesday evening, I keep them until Monday or Tuesday.
