GUERIN Zélie, Mrs. Louis Martin

Born December 23, 1831 - Died August 28, 1877

Azélie-Marie Guérin, born in Gandelain (Orne). With her parents, she came to Alençon in 1844, and studied with the Ladies of Adoration. She thinks of being a nun, but is not admitted because of her health. She learned the trade of lacemaker, then the factory for a house in Paris, before establishing herself on her own account in 1863. She married Louis Martin on July 13, 1858. They had 9 children, 4 of whom died young. In this family where God is first served, she is the mother of a large family, attentive to her children, a lace entrepreneur, employing many workers, she is also an assiduous correspondent full of charm for her parents in Lisieux and her daughters boarders in Le Mans. . She died prematurely of breast cancer in 1877.
