Letter from Mrs. Martin to Mrs. Guérin CF 37
August 29, 1868.
My brother asks me to report to you what happened today, he is tired, I sent him to rest.
This morning, at seven o'clock, we were both saying the prayers for the dying by my father's bed. He felt better around ten o'clock, this improvement was by progressing all day, we hope to save him. He speaks much more freely and takes care of everything. This evening, he feels a little worse, the fever starts again; the night frightens me to pass.
Farewell, my dear sister, I am, as you can see, in great pain, it's a sad week for me. My dear little angel who was so beautiful, we had to part with it!
I wish with all my heart that you never know such sadness. And my poor father, I'm afraid I'll lose him too.
