Letter from Mrs. Martin CF 106

To Mrs Guerin
July 20 1873.
I take advantage of the passage of Mr. Adrien Romet to send you a quick note. Besides, I wanted to write to you today, but Marie, who intended to do so too, had asked me to wait until tomorrow; his letter is postponed to another time
She's doing as well as she can now and is taller than me! We plan to go to Lisieux in September, I can't leave before then. I must like you very much to make me decide to leave the house, for travel does not tempt me.
I'm going to Le Mans on August 4 to pick up Pauline. She was very bored without Marie, it's unbelievable all the grief she suffered during her sister's illness. She too has grown a lot this year; it's only Léonie who doesn't come or go, she's like an eight-year-old child; she has to go to the Visitation in October, if however her aunt does not ask that I keep her at home for another year.
Céline is tall for her age, but she's not strong, I'm always afraid she'll be like little Hélène. As for Therese, she's a big baby; it is browned by the sun; his nurse the wheelbarrow in the fields, mounted on bundles of grass; she almost never screams. “Little Rose” says you couldn't think of a cuter child. So, as you see, my dear sister, everything is going well. I had a sad start to the year, to all appearances the end will be better.
