Letter from Mrs. Martin CF 103

To Mrs Guerin
29 may 1873.
...Marie is well cured, she now goes out every day and her strength is visibly coming back to her, although she is still very thin. I don't intend to send her back to Le Mans before the start of the summer holidays; it must be strengthened and rest.
Pauline, who hasn't had a holiday at Easter, arrives on Saturday evening to spend eight days with us. This falls admirably, because we are going to have big parties in Alençon about an Exhibition; they will begin on Sunday, ending on June 8.
I was supposed to write to you to ask you if it would not be possible for you to come and spend that time with us? You see that I am taking it very late, absolutely like those who invite in order to receive a refusal! I assure you that is not my thought, you know very well that I would be happy to see you all; but I dare not hope for this happiness. Finally, if it were possible, how happy I would be!
I think you are in good health, as well as your dear little ones? With us, everyone is fine, little Thérèse is growing wonderfully. She weighs nearly fifteen pounds. The nurse began to feed her only eight days ago; I am very satisfied with this woman, you hardly meet one like her to take care of the children.
I think Celine Maudelonde is fine too? I would like you to tell me about her, as well as about my little Marguerite (Marguerite Maudelonde, niece of Mme Guérin and elder sister of the previous one) whom I love very much, because she looks like my little Hélène.
