From Marie Martin to Mr. and Mrs. Guérin. December 30, 1868.
My dear Uncle and my dear Aunt,
I am very happy to be able to write to you and write you a very nice little letter telling you that I am well used to the Visitation, and that I will try to be very good to make you happy because I like you very much.
I am very happy to be on the first day of the year knowing that you will be [1v°] very happy to have a little girl, who wants to convert from her faults and become very wise in order to be a child of Jesus at the Purification and to please his little Mother and his little Father. Dear Uncle and dear Aunt, I wish you a very happy new year as well as to little Jeanne whom I love with all my heart and whom I have not seen but I believe that she is very nice, very cute and that she love you. My dear Uncle and my dear Aunt, I assure you that I am very happy to be on the first day of the year to go and see my dear parents, they will be so happy to see us again. I am going to try to learn to write well so that I can often write you short letters, although they are not long. I know that will give you great pleasure, as well as my Aunt. My dear Uncle and my dear Aunt, I am well and I play well at recess, as does Pauline, we both love each other very much and would like to see you.
My dear Uncle and my dear Aunt, I embrace you with all my heart and little Jeanne. Pauline kisses you with all her heart.
Your loving little girl
