Letter from Mrs. Martin to her brother Isidore CF 44
3 February 1869.
I'm glad you're doing well and your business is growing. For me, my affairs are going I don't know how; I have the "Point" made, without knowing if I will sell it well, I always work in hope, without worrying too much, since the good Lord has allowed us to now have enough fortune to live in peace
As for my health, it is not bad, nor that of the whole family. It's been nearly a fortnight since I've heard from the little girls from Le Mans, I'm bored and very deprived of not seeing them.
Don't worry that your little Jeanne is very lively, that won't prevent her from being an excellent child later and from being your consolation. I remember that Pauline, until the age of two, was the same, I was sorry about that, and now she's my best. I have to tell you that I didn't spoil her and that, tiny as she was, I didn't pass anything on to her, without however torturing her, but she had to give in.
I think your little one will soon walk on her own, if she weren't so lively, she would sooner; however, you who were smart as a devil, you ran like a rabbit at nine months!
I don't know where you got that I told you I wanted to agree to something for the child who is to come? I repeated to you, on the contrary, that if you put yourself out, you would make me the greatest displeasure, for the reason that I have everything I need, and I promise you that he will be very well dressed. . I have too good a godfather and too good a godmother (Mr. Vital Romet and Mrs. Guérin) for things to be done halfway.
I am expecting this baby for April 20, at the earliest, we will wave it, because, alas! baptism cannot take place before August or September.
