Letter from Mrs. Martin to her brother Isidore CF 22
3 may 1867.
It's impossible for me to leave for Lisieux on Monday, I have to put it off for eight days, because I have 25 meters from Point d'Alençon to ship for the end of next week, it will be very difficult for me to get there, although I help as much as possible, but by lengthening the days with the lamp, I hope to succeed.
You won't have to worry if you're held up at the pharmacy when I go to Lisieux, my intention is not to take a walk; if it were only for this motive I would not make such a fuss about it; it is to be with you. First, I don't like to go out. You talk to me about Trouville, but I don't care much about the sea. However, I am very grateful to you for your good intentions. You don't hesitate to spend money to give me pleasure, it's too much! We'll see later, when the little girls have grown up, so we'll take very little trips around the area together. In the meantime, we will simply visit Lisieux. Don't be afraid that I'll be bored, there's no danger!
I thank my sister-in-law for her kindness in wanting me to take the little ones, but I prefer to wait until next year; they are still very young to get up so early. It is true that we could leave by the eight o'clock train, but I will already have too little time, for it is impossible for me to stay more than two days, I must absolutely return on Wednesday.
So, count on me for Monday a week, I'll only write to you if I have any impediments, something that I don't expect and of which I'm very afraid.
