Stages of religious life

Some texts to shed light on the basic journey at the time of Thérèse  

- On entering, the young woman is postulant.

- When she takes the habit (clothing), she becomes novice. This ceremony is preceded by a retreat.

- When she makes her profession, she becomes profess. The profession is private; it is done at the chapter - and it is preceded by a retreat.

- In the days that follow, the black veil is taken. This ceremony is public; it takes place in the chapel of the monastery.
