Sr Thérèse is in favor of the translation into Polish of thestory of a soul, being herself of Polish origin. She prayed for this intention as early as 1899, as evidenced by the postscript of a letter from Marie de Gonzague to the Carmel of Przemysl on August 9, 1899: "Our dear Sister Thérèse of Jesus was very sensitive to your memory. She continues to pray for the success of the enterprise."
She will not testify at trial, having left the community at that time. But we have however the text of a letter written by his hand to Bishop Lemonnier. Here are some excerpts, which clearly show what she thought of young Thérèse.
Excerpts from a letter from Sr Thérèse of Jesus dated November 9, 1907, following the request for information on Thérèse made by the new bishop Mgr Lemonnier on October 15, 1907:
"My lord,
I was very fond of little Sister Thérèse of the Child Jesus, because of her youth.
She was a good child, painless, fond of being of service. Good little character, she had her imperfections: everyone has them.
I have never seen anything that could make her put on the altars. Getting up in the morning, filling her day, never overloaded.
I lived 9 years and 6 months with her. I saw a child celebrated, pampered, adored, always put on the pinnacle. The mother prioress loved it [Marie de Gonzague].
Little Thérèse's sisters thought of her as a phoenix, always complimenting her, telling her she was a saint, and so on. Ah! I said to myself: the imprudent ones. She was an acclaimed child... When they cut her hair, they kept it like relics. It's easy to be lovable when you're adored."
