Testimony of Sr St Jean-Baptiste

Older than Thérèse by 26 years, Sr St Jean Baptiste does not seem to have appreciated her very much.

Very straddling the observances, Sr St Jean Baptiste could not understand that Thérèse, so young, took care of the novices. One day during recreation, reports Marie de la Trinité, she pointed out to Thérèse that she needed to direct herself more than to direct others. (Red Notebook of Mary of the Trinity.

Sr. St. Jean Baptiste therefore did not appreciate, at the beginning, that the Cause of Beatification of Thérèse was opened. But it will be swept away in the general movement. One evening, at the beginning of the silence (from 20 to 21 p.m.), his dove lamp will go out, for lack of gasoline. She fervently prays to Sister Thérèse: “Oh! I beg you, revive our dying lamp! "Immediately," she confided then, "I saw her come to life with incredible speed then shed such a vivid light that it looked like there was a gaslight in our cell, which lasted two or three seconds, and our lamp resumed its usual glow which lasted until the hour of Matins.
