TAXIL Léo Monsieur, born Gabriel-Antoine Jogand-Pagès

Born March 21, 1854 in Marseilles, died March 31, 1907 in Sceaux. Her name is linked to that of Diana Vaughan, to the "Eucharistic Novena to repair", to Palladism. An anticlerical writer, he published scandalous pamphlets against the Church. In 1885, he seemed to turn around and turned his pen against Freemasonry from which he had been expelled, made a pilgrimage to Rome, received absolution from Pope Leo XIII. But on April 19, 1897, during a press conference, he revealed that Diana Vaughan was him! The "Eucharistic Novena" is still him! As for Palladism, it's him again! He is very proud of "the grandest humbug of his life!"
