His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, born Vincenzo Giocchino Pecci.

Born March 2, 1810 in Carpineto, died July 20, 1903 in Rome.

On the occasion of the celebration of his 50 years of priesthood, a diocesan pilgrimage to Coutances and Bayeux was organized, in which Mr. Martin, Céline and Thérèse took part.

During the pontifical audience, Thérèse asked the Pope for authorization to enter Carmel at the age of fifteen. “The good Pope is so old that one would say that he is dead”, writes Thérèse irreverently in to Latvia ; However, he survived him by five years.
