Thérèse engraved on the left frame of the door of her last cell this text is very difficult to read. Its inspiration undoubtedly comes from the passage of chapter 6 of Deuteronomy, often read in the Breviary:
5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength.
6 The words of the commandments I give you today will be present in your heart;
7 You will repeat them to your sons; you will tell them when you stay at home and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you stand up;
8 thou shalt make it a sign fastened to thy hand, a mark placed between thy eyes;
9 you will inscribe them on the doorposts of your house.

That's exactly what she did: she wrote it on the doorpost of her cell. Thérèse arrived in this 3rd and last cell in August 1894.
