the Carmel

Front mail study

A student from the University of Strasbourg, Sébastien Vogt, worked on all the mail received at the Carmel of Lisieux during the First World War. He went through our thousand correspondence files for the period 1914-1918. His dissertation was written under the supervision of Jean-Noël Grandhomme.

The devotion of soldiers to little Sister Thérèse of Lisieux during the First World War

Sébastien Vogt has just received the Military History Prize for his memoir Charles Gutsch awarded by the Society of Friends of the University of Strasbourg. Every year, this prize rewards particularly deserving dissertations and/or theses in the field of military history. The prize was created by the widow of a French officer who died during training, Mrs. Gutsch, to encourage young researchers.
