Jesus!... In Carmel on April 4, 89

My dear little Céline,

Your letter has put a great sadness in my soul!... Poor little Father!... No, the thoughts of Jesus are not our thoughts nor his ways are our ways...
He presents us with a chalice as bitter as our weak nature can bear!... let us not take our lips from this chalice prepared by the hand of Jesus...
Let's see life in its true light... It's a moment between two eternities... Let's suffer in peace...
I admit that this word peace seemed a bit strong to me, but the other day, thinking about it, I found the secret of suffering in peace... Who says peace does not say joy, or at least felt joy ... To suffer in peace, it is enough to want all that Jesus wants... To be the bride of Jesus, it is necessary to resemble Jesus, Jesus who is all bloody, He is crowned with thorns!.. .
A thousand years are before your eyes, Lord, like yesterday, which is past!...
Being on the banks of the river of Babylon we sat down there, and we shed tears while remembering Zion... We hung our harps on the willows which are in the fields... Those who led us captive said: "Sing us a pleasant song among those of Zion"... How could we sing the songs of the Lord in a foreign land?... Ps. of David...
No, let's not sing the canticles of Heaven to the creatures... but like Cécile, let's sing in our heart a melodious canticle to our beloved!...
The canticle of suffering united to his sufferings is what delights his heart the most!...
Jesus burns with love for us... Look at his adorable Face!... Look at those extinguished and lowered eyes!... Look at these wounds... Look at Jesus in his Face... There you will see how much he loves us.
