My darling aunt,

I see myself unable to obey you, because it would be too difficult for me not to say thank you!... How little these five letters are to express my gratitude to you, but my dear Aunt, please , understand everything your little girl cannot tell you. O my Aunt, how good you are! How I will pray for you. It is true, alas! that I am incapable of doing anything good, instead of making money I only know how to lose it, so the delicate attention of my dear little Aunt has touched me very deeply. I couldn't believe seeing myself suddenly so rich, without having done anything to earn so much money... I can't help but smile thinking that thanks to my good parents, it's me who am going to supply the fish for the whole Fellowship...
I hope, dear aunt, that you will thank my dear uncle for me and tell him how grateful I am.
It is necessary, my dear Aunt, that the good God loves you very particularly to make you suffer thus, however if he listened to me you would never be sick again, because I would be happy if he wanted to send me all the pains that he reserves for you.
Alas! my darling Aunt, how little my letter will express to you the feelings of my heart I would like to be able to show you all my gratitude!...
How good Jesus is to leave us, in the cruel ordeal he sends us, the consolation of seeing our pain shared and understood by our good Parents!...
I kiss with all my heart my little Jeanne and also my little mistress of the house.
Farewell my darling little Aunt, I thank you again as well as my dear Uncle and kiss you very tenderly.
Your grateful little girl
