Jesus!... January 2, 1889.
My darling Aunt,

Your little girl is overjoyed!... How good you are to her, it's really too much... how can I thank you?... But doesn't a mother know how to read her little girl's heart? daughter ? so I won't worry; sure you will guess my gratitude.
The lilies are LOVELY, they look like they have just been picked! How good my little sisters are to offer them to me, it will be a great joy for me on the day of my habit to think that they are the ones who adorned me to go to my divine fiancé. These flowers will speak for them to Jesus who, I am sure, will fill them with his graces, as well as you, my dear Aunt.
If you knew how happy I was to have the enormous sugar apple to offer to our Mother, I recognized there my dear Aunt, who is always looking for what will give her little daughter the most pleasure. My joy was no less great when I saw the beautiful package of gingerbread; I was very proud in the refectory when our mother told the Community that in honor of my 16th birthday you were giving us this treat.
Thank you, my darling Aunt, if you only knew how good I find you! On the day of my taking the habit, I will pray for you, as well as for my dear Uncle whom I thank with all my heart, because I know that it is he too who gave me all the beautiful gifts that I received this evening.
Our dear Mother finds the crown very beautiful as well as the whole community. I had never seen flowers that please me so much, they are so pure, lilies, I would like my soul to be all adorned with them to go to Jesus because it is not enough to have them in your hair, c is the heart that the eye of Jesus always looks at!...
Goodbye and thank you, my darling Aunt, pray that your little girl is as well adorned inside as outside!...
