JMJT July 31, 88. Carmel
My dear King,

If you knew like your carp, your monster made us happy! dinner was delayed by half an hour, it was Marie du Sacré Coeur who made the sauce, it was delicious, it smelled of world cuisine. It was even better than the sumptuous cuisine of Italy, and that's saying something, for what feasts... and what company, do you remember, Father?... But it's not always that which gives appetite; to me at least, because I have never eaten so much as since I have been at Carmel. I feel that I am completely in my center; if Miss Pauline were there, she would say: "I found my way."
Your Diamond can't write to you, because he's doing a lot of laundry, but that doesn't prevent him from thinking of you, my darling little Father. She kisses you with all her heart, you know it's not small, the heart of your big one.
I'm thinking of everything you frequently told us: Vanity of vanities, all is vanity, vanity of passing life, etc. The further I go, the more I find it's true that all is vanity on earth.
When I think of you my dear little Father, I naturally think of the good Lord, because it seems to me that it is impossible to see anyone holier than you on earth.
When I think that in eight days I will be four months in Carmel, I can't believe it, it seems to me that I have always been there, and on the other hand it seems to me that it was yesterday my entry. As everything goes...
The further I go, my dear little Father, the more I love you, I don't know how it happens, but it's the truth, I wonder what it will be like at the end of my life...
I am very proud of my title of Queen of France and Navarre, I hope to always deserve it. Jesus the King of Heaven, taking me for himself, did not take me away from my holy King on earth, oh! no, always, if my darling little Father is willing and doesn't find me too unworthy of it, I will remain: Papa's Queen.
The fine pearl embraces you very strongly.
Farewell and see you soon my dear King

Your little Queen, Thérèse of the Child Jesus, will die.
