The 8 Mai 1888
My dear little Father,

Your beautiful little candles gave me so much pleasure that I can't help but write you a little note to thank you.
The postman of Jesus is very good in thus providing his little Queen with the means of making beautiful illuminations.
The Queen thinks constantly of her King, moreover the postman of the Good Jesus comes so often to bring his messages that we could not forget him.
My darling little Father, really I almost believe that you are going to ruin yourself, but I am going to surprise you by telling you that I don't worry much about it. It's because you have so many resources that you won't be embarrassed... even starvation wouldn't scare you. Do you remember when you said to me: “We will eat this or that in the famine”; or: “We will do this when we are ruined.” In these arrangements no misfortune can cause fear.
Thank you for the fish, my dear little Father. Thank you, thank you, you give us so many things that I finally see myself forced to thank you for everything in general, but each thing nevertheless gives its particular pleasure.
Farewell my dear King. Your Diamond and your Pearl thank you well as well as your Queen
