            My darling aunt,

If you knew how happy your little girl would be if she could be with you to wish you your birthday, but since this happiness is denied to her, she wants at least a little word from her heart to go beyond the seas to replace her . Poor little word, how insufficient it will be to tell my darling Aunt all the affection I have for her!
How happy we were this morning to receive your dear letters! Oh ! Aunt, if you only knew how good I think you are...
We have received all the letters from Carmel, not a single one has been lost. I'll do what Pauline tells me in her letter (Hotel de Milan), I don't know how I'll go about talking to the Pope. Really if the Good Lord didn't take care of everything, I don't know what I would do. But I have such great confidence in him that he will not be able to abandon me, I put everything in his hands.
We don't know the date of the hearing yet. It seems that to talk to everyone the Holy Father passes in front of the faithful but I don't think he stops; in spite of everything, I am quite determined to speak to him because, before Pauline wrote to me, I was thinking about it, but I said to myself that if the Good Lord wanted me to speak to the Pope, he would let me know...
My dear Aunt, I would like to be able to make you read in my heart, you would see there much better than in my letter all that I wish you for your birthday. I'm far, very far from you, my dear little Aunt, but it's incredible how close I feel to you tonight, I would like to tell you how much I love you and how much I think of you, but there are things that are not told, they can only be guessed...
My dear Aunt, please thank my dear little Marie for her charming and AFFECTIVE little letter, it gave me great pleasure. Thanks also to my little Jeanne CHERIE for thinking of her little sister.
Goodbye, my darling little Aunt, please kiss my dear Uncle for me, I send you, my dear Aunt, the best wishes I have ever sent you for it is when one is separated from those who 'we like that we feel all the affection we have for them.

your little girl
Thérèse
