O my God, how gentle you are for the little victim of your Merciful Love! Now that You join external suffering to the trials of my soul, I cannot say: "The anguish of death has surrounded me" but I cry out in my gratitude: "I have descended into the valley of the shadow of death, yet I fear no evil: because you are with me, Lord!”
