                The Reverend,

Our Reverend Mother being ill, entrusted me with the mission of answering your letter, I regret that you are deprived of the holy words that this good Mother would have addressed to you, but I am happy to be her interpreter and to repeat to you her joy. by learning of the work that Our Lord has just done in your soul, she will continue to pray that He will complete His divine work in you.
It is, I think, useless to tell you, Father, the great part I take in Our Mother's happiness. Your letter of July had greatly distressed me; attributing to my lack of fervor the combats which were delivered to you, I never ceased to implore for you the maternal assistance of the gentle Queen of the Apostles, so my consolation was very great in receiving as a festive bouquet the assurance that my poor prayers had been answered...
Now that the storm has passed, I thank God for having helped you through it, for we read in our holy books these beautiful words: "Blessed is the man who suffered temptation", and again: "He who has not been tempted, what does he know?...» In fact, when Jesus calls a soul to lead, to save multitudes of other souls, it is very necessary that he make him experience temptations and trials. of life. Since He has granted you the grace to emerge victorious from the struggle, I hope, Father, that Our sweet Jesus will fulfill your great desires. I ask him that you be, not only a good missionary, but a saint all ablaze with the love of God and of souls; I beg you to also obtain this love for me so that I can help you in your apostolic work. As you know, a Carmelite who would not be an apostle would move away from the goal of her vocation and would cease to be a daughter of the Seraphic Saint Teresa who wanted to give a thousand lives to save a single soul.
I have no doubt, Father, that you will also want to join your prayers to mine so that Our Lord heals Our Venerable Mother.
In the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary I will always be happy to say to myself:

Your unworthy little sister Thérèse of the Child Jesus, of the Holy Face rel.carm.ind.
