Jesus

The February 24 1895

                My dear Leonie,

I was very happy to hear from you, I hope that you continue to be well and that your dear Sisters are on the way to recovery.
I have very little time to devote to you but I want to recommend myself to your prayers before Lent and promise you that for my part I will think of you even more if possible, and then I will come and sing the Alleluia well long with you to compensate me for not having been able to do it today... I mean after Easter but I explain myself so badly that you could believe that I am going to sing the Alleluia in Lent... Oh! no, I'm going to content myself with following Jesus on his painful path, I'm going to hang my harp from the willows that are on the banks of the rivers of Babylon. But after the Resurrection I'll take up my harp again, forgetting for a moment that I'm exiled; with you I will sing of the happiness of serving Jesus and of living in his house, the happiness of being his spouse for time and for eternity!...
Dear little Sister, please offer my religious respect to your good Mothers and believe in my great tenderness.

Your very little Sister Thérèse of the Child Jesus

(PS) When you write, will you tell me the year of your first communion.
