Jesus

The 17 November 1894

                My dear Aunt,

It is with the soul still perfumed with the beautiful letter from my Uncle to Sr. Marie-Madeleine that I come to wish you your birthday.
O my dear little Aunt! if you only knew how proud I am to have parents like you!... I am happy to see the Good Lord so well served by those I love and I wonder why He gave me the grace to to belong to such a beautiful family...
It seems to me that Jesus comes to rest with delight in your house as He did in Bethany in the past. It is indeed “The divine Beggar of love” who asks for hospitality and who says “Thank you” always asking for more in proportion to the gifts He receives. He feels that the hearts to which He is speaking understand "that the greatest honor that God can do to a soul is not to give it much, but to ask much of it".
So how sweet it will be for you one day, my darling Aunt, to hear yourself given the name of Mother by Jesus Himself!... Yes, you are truly his Mother, He assures us of this in the Gospel with these words "Whoever does the will of my Father, he is my Mother." And you have not only done his will but you give him six of your children to be his wives!... Thus you are six times his Mother and the angels of Heaven could address these beautiful words to you: your children because all will be blessed and will be reunited to the Lord.” Yes, all are blessed and in Heaven, O my darling Aunt, your crown will be composed of roses and lilies...
The two roses that will shine in the middle will not be the least ornament. It is they who on earth will have copied your virtues in order to embalm the sad world and that God may still find here below some flowers which charm him and hold back his arm which would like to punish the wicked...
My darling little aunt, I wanted to tell you a lot about it... but they've come to get my letter, I only have time to assure you of all my affection. I am also thinking of our dear Grandma's birthday and please give her a big hug for me.
