Jesus

In Carmel on December 27, 1893

                My dear Leonie,

I am happy to come and offer you my good wishes for 94. My wish near the cradle of Jesus is to see you soon dressed in the holy liveries of the Visitation. I say to see you, but I know that I will only have this happiness in Heaven, what joy then to meet again after the exile of life!...
So many things to tell us! Down here speech is powerless but up there a single look will suffice to understand us and I believe that our happiness will be even greater than if we had not separated.
Your dear little letter made me very happy, I see that you are really happy and I have no doubt that the good Lord will give you the grace to stay forever in the holy ark. We read in the refectory the life of Saint Chantal; it is a real consolation for me to hear it, it brings me even closer to the dear Visitation that I love so much, and then I see the intimate union that has always existed between her and Carmel, it makes me bless the Good Lord for having chosen these two orders for our family. The Blessed Virgin is truly our Mother since our monasteries are particularly dedicated to her.
Dear little Sister, don't forget to pray for me during the month of dear little Jesus, ask Him that I always remain little, very little!... I will pray the same prayer to Him for you because I know your desires and I know that humility is your favorite virtue.
Do not forget, my dear Léonie, to offer my respectful wishes to your Venerable Mother, and believe in the sincere affection of the last and smallest of your sisters.
