My dear Uncle and my dear Aunt,
It is very sweet of your Benjamin to come and offer you his best wishes for the new year which is about to begin.
I'm not going to try to say here all the wishes that I form for my dear parents, it would take too long and then the heart often has aspirations that words are powerless to translate. There are desires that God alone can understand, or rather guess. It is therefore to Him that I want to entrust the wishes that my heart forms for those who are so dear to me.
Often, when I am at the feet of Our Lord, I feel my soul overflowing with gratitude when I think of the grace He has given me by giving me parents like those I have the happiness of possessing.
I don't forget that the second of January is my dear Uncle's birthday. I am proud to have been born on the same day as him and I hope he will not forget to pray for his little Thérèse who will soon be a twenty-year-old spinster. How time flies!... It seems to me that it was yesterday that my good Uncle made me jump on his knees while singing Bluebeard's ballad with terrible eyes that almost made me die of fear... The little Mirlitir tune was more to my liking... The memory of this song is enough to make me laugh again.
You see, my dear Uncle and my Aunt, that the weight of the years has not yet taken away your little girl's memory, on the contrary she is at an age where the memories of youth have a special charm...
I beg you, my dear parents, to offer my best wishes to those I love, I am not naming anyone because the rest of my paper would not be enough, but in my heart all the names are inscribed and hold a large square.
