My dear little Céline,
I have been asked to write you a short note to tell you not to come and give us news of Papa during the Pentecost retreat; if you wanted to write us a little note you would be very kind, and then you would come Monday to see us. Céline darling, I am happy to be in charge of the commission, because I need to tell you how much I find that the good Lord loves you and treats you as a privileged person... Ah! you can well say that your reward is great in Heaven, since it is said: "You will be happy when people persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely." So rejoice and rejoice!...
Céline, what a privilege to be unknown on earth!... Ah! God's thoughts are not our thoughts, if they were, our life would only be a hymn of gratitude!...
Céline, do you think that St Thérèse has received more graces than you?... For me, I will not tell you to aim for her seraphic holiness, but rather to be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect!... Ah ! Céline, our infinite desires are therefore neither dreams nor chimeras since Jesus himself gave us this commandment!...
Céline, don't you think that on earth we have nothing left! Jesus wants us to drink his chalice to the dregs by leaving our dear little Father there, ah! let's not refuse him anything, he has so much need of love and he is so thirsty that he expects from us the drop of water which must refresh him!... Ah! give without counting, one day he will know how to say to us: “now my turn.”
Thank my dear little Marie very much for her lovely bouquet, tell her that I am offering it to Jesus on her behalf, and in return ask him to adorn her soul with as many virtues as there are rosebuds! ...
