Letter from Mrs. Martin to her brother Isidore CF 9
21 June 1864.
I think my father and my aunt arrived in Paris last night, in good health. I would very much like to have news of it, I am addressing you for that; because my father wouldn't write. Above all, don't tire him too much with long runs and tell him to bring us his portrait and yours, but done by a master's hand, so as not to have to start over. He may well give us this little gift.
He forgot to take the package that MR [Vital Romet] gave him. I saw that it was a quantity of small boxes containing pasta of all kinds; so I thought it was for you when you got a cold, so I'm saving it until further notice. You'll tell me what to do with it and if I can give it to my three little girls to taste, otherwise we won't touch it any more than a relic!
I have nothing new to tell you. I expect my father to teach you everything he knows. Remind him to put for him and for me a candle at Notre-Dame des Victoires. He promised me.
