Sanctuary — Archives of the Carmel of Lisieux

Slightly raised space at the back of the chapel where the altar is located. It is the place where the priest celebrates Mass, ceremonies such as the greeting of the Blessed Sacrament, funerals, etc.

In this photo, we see the space included on the other side of the balustrade. The gate of the Carmelite choir is on the right (not visible).

Close-up on the altar. At the door of the tabernacle Thérèse had knocked asking: "Jesus! are you there?..." read the testimony of Martha of Jesus.
