Place where the lay sisters washed the laundry. Linen was soaped and washed in these stone tubs, then in a washing machine, a large iron container placed on a small oven to heat the water. The laundry was then transported for rinsing in the washhouse that can be seen through the open door. Tanks and washing machine were emptied from the bottom - hence the use of clogs for washing, so as not to wet the alpargates.
