the Carmel

Story of a Shepherdess who became Queen - PN 10

(Tune: Fallen from the nest)

November 20, 1894
To my Sr Mary Magdalene on the day of her Profession, made by the hands of Mother Agnes of Jesus

1. On this beautiful day, O Madeleine!
We come to sing near you
The wonderful and sweet chain
Who unites you to your Spouse,
Listen to the charming story
Of a shepherdess than a great King
Wanted one day to fill with glory
And who answered his voice.

Refrain
Let's sing the shepherdess
poor on earth
That the King of Heaven
Marry on this day in Carmel.

2. A little shepherdess
Spinning guarded his lambs
She admired every flower
Listened to the song of the birds
Understanding the sweet language well
Great woods and beautiful blue skies
Everything for her was an image
Who revealed the Good Lord to him.

3. She loved Jesus and Mary
With great ardor
They also loved Melanie
And came to speak to her heart.
"Will you," said the Sweet Queen,
Near me, on Mount Carmel
Do you want to become Madeleine
And win no more than Heaven?

4. “Child, leave this campaign,
Do not regret your herd,
Over there on my holy mountain
Jesus will be your only Lamb. »
"Oh! come, your soul has charmed me”
Repeated Jesus in turn
I take you for my bride."

5. With Happiness the Humble Shepherdess
Answering that sweet call
Supported by Mary, his Mother
Reached the top of Carmel...
It is you, O Mary Magdalene!
That we celebrate on this big day.
The Shepherdess who became Queen
Close to King Jesus, his love!...

6. You know, dearest Sister,
To serve our God is to reign
The Sweet Savior during his life
Kept teaching us:
“If in the Celestial Fatherland
You want to be the first
It will take your whole life
To hide... To be the last.”

7. Happy are you, Madeleine,
Praying to Jesus on Carmel
Would it be for you some trouble
Being so close to Heaven?...
You imitate Martha and Mary
Pray, serve the sweet Savior
This is the purpose of your life
He gives you true happiness.

8. If sometimes the bitter suffering
Came to visit your heart
Enjoy it:
To suffer for God... what sweetness!...
So the divine tenderness
You will soon forget
That you walk on thorns
And you'd rather think you're flying...

9. Today the angel envies you
He would like to taste happiness
What you possess, O Mary!
Being the bride of the Lord.
Yes you are from this life
The King of the Elect's Wife
One day in the Holy Fatherland
You will reign close to Jesus.

Last Chorus
Soon the Shepherdess
poor on earth
Soaring to Heaven
Will reign with the Lord.

To our revered Mothers.
10. It's up to you, good, tender Mothers
Than Madeleine our Sister
It's your care and your prayers
That she owes peace, her happiness
She will be able to recognize
Your tender and maternal love
Asking his Divine Master
To fill you with the goods of Heaven.

Refrain
And in your crowns
O mothers so good
Will shine the flower
Which you offer to the Savior God.
